Professional Certification Benefits

One great way to set yourself apart is by getting certificates in your field.  Professional certification is something that not every candidate will have.  If you can get some kind of certification in your field, you will immediately set yourself apart from most of the other candidates.

Not every industry will have a corresponding professional certification that you can get, so you might consider getting some sort of certification that might work well with your field.

Let’s say you have worked as a transcriptionist in a medical office, but you already have a medical transcription certificate.  You could get a certificate in computer operation or even computer repair so that you could be more effective.

If you could tell prospective employers that you have a computer repair certificate, you would instantly be more valuable.  Your employer would know that if the computers in the office had problems, he or she would not have to pay a lot of money to hire someone from outside the office to fix it.

When you have the ability to go above and beyond the call of duty and perform extra duties that other candidates couldn’t, you will have an edge.
